Utah’s lieutenant governor visited San Juan County following the recent flooding, meeting with affected families and local leaders to hear firsthand about the damage and support needed.
Among those she met with was San Juan School District Superintendent Christine Fitzgerald, who also visited with students’ families to learn about their immediate needs. The district is following up by delivering requested items.
Photos from the visit show some of the devastation families and communities face as they begin to recover. Flooding has disrupted homes, school routines and access to everyday necessities.
The district appreciates the lieutenant governor, Rep. Monson and the many agency leaders who visited affected communities and took immediate action to provide support.
District staff continue working to keep students connected to learning and support families navigating the effects of the flooding.
To our affected families: We know this is a difficult time. We care about your children and your well-being, and we will continue working with you as our communities recover.
